Vermi Compost Subsidy: The state government is giving a subsidy of 10 thousand rupees to farmers for making fertilizer from cow dung, know the details
Vermi Compost Subsidy: The Rajasthan government has developed a new program to promote organic farming and protect farmers from the negative effects of chemical farming. Its name is Govardhan Organic Fertilizer Scheme. Under this program, farmers will be able to make organic fertilizer by installing vermicompost units in their fields. In return, they will get a government subsidy of up to Rs 10,000.
Fifty thousand farmers will get benefit
The state government hopes to help 50,000 farmers from this program. To do this, farmers have to build a vermicompost unit of a certain size on their farm, where earthworms will convert cow dung and other organic waste into manure.
What is the amount of subsidy?
Under this initiative, farmers setting up vermicompost units will get a subsidy of 50% of the installation cost, up to a maximum of Rs 10,000 per unit. The farmer will get this assistance amount directly in his account.
How to apply
To avail the benefits of this program, the farmer has to apply through the Raj Kisan Sathi portal (https://rajkisan.rajasthan.gov.in/Rajkisanweb/Home). The farmer has the option to complete the application process completely online or in person at the nearest e-Mitra center.
Aim of the scheme
The main goal of the Govardhan Organic Manure Scheme is to encourage organic farming so that farmers can use their own animal manure and other waste to make compost for crops. Apart from maintaining the fertility of the soil, it will also increase the quality of the crops.
Who is eligible to apply?
- The farmer must live permanently in Rajasthan.
- He must have a cow, buffalo or camel.
- For a vermicompost unit in his farm, he must create an area 10 feet long, 3 feet wide and 2.5 feet deep.
- The farmer has to buy eight to ten kilograms of earthworms and put them in the vermicompost unit.
Vermicompost Unit: What is it?
An organic plant known as a vermicompost unit is where organic waste—such as cow dung, dry leaves and kitchen waste—is decomposed by earthworms and turned into nutrient-rich compost. This compost is both safer and better for the soil than chemical fertilizers.
What is the benefit of this scheme?
- The farmer will get the facility to make organic compost on his farm.
- Less money will be spent on chemical fertilizers.
- The quality of the soil and water-holding capacity will also improve.
- Organic farming will increase the quality of the crop.
- The government will immediately deposit an incentive amount of up to Rs 10,000 in the account.
Why is this scheme needed?
The health of the soil is deteriorating due to excessive use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. In such a situation, the only way for farmers to do ecologically responsible farming is organic farming. Farmers are being encouraged in this way with the Govardhan Organic Manure Yojana.
