The unique horticultural crop program will only benefit Rayat farmers; non-Rayat farmers will not be eligible. For this, the online application procedure has begun. Lemon, amla, and guava orchards will be planted in 10–10 hectares, while apple plums will be planted in 10 hectares. Orchards may be planted on a minimum of 8 kattha and a maximum of 2 hectares by farmers.

The government will provide a 50% subsidy

The cost of establishing a one-hectare orchard is around one lakh rupees, of which the government would reimburse half in two payments. Sixty percent (30,000) of the first payment will be granted in the first year, and forty percent (20,000) in the second year, when seventy-five percent of the plants planted are safe. The Horticulture Department would provide farmers with plants based on the district’s environment, according to District Horticulture Officer Nayyaz Ahmed.

Green and Kashmiri Red Apple Plum, Kagji and Sai Sarvati Lemon, ML 7 and Lakshmi 52 Amla, and Lucknow 49 and Lalit Guava varieties will be distributed to farmers. In one acre, it is customary to plant 600 apple plum plants, 555 lemon plants, 278–278 amla plants, and guava plants.
