Mushroom Cultivation: In many areas of Jharkhand state, farming is becoming difficult due to severe heat. However, women of the Godda area of the state have adopted a different path. These women are setting an example by cultivating milky mushrooms, often called milky gold, in 8/10 rooms of their house, even in temperatures above 40 degrees.
Milky mushrooms are produced by women
About fifty women have been given this opportunity under the Adani Annapurna Yojana in the communities around the Adani Power Plant in Godda district. Currently, about fifty women of Motiya, Patwa and Dumaria villages of the district are engaged in cultivating milky mushrooms. Even in the summer season, this mushroom gives a very good yield when grown in a closed space with a temperature of 35 to 40 degrees and 90% humidity.
Women earn up to $30,000
Meanwhile, Bindu Devi of Patwa village said that she is farming for the second time in her house. Where he has earned about 30,000 dollars from farming for the first time. Inspired by this, he has once again built a mushroom house in the eighth and tenth rooms of his house, in which 200 sacks of mushrooms can be kept. He said that earlier farming was considered the best work for men, but now he has made his own identity through mushroom farming.
Giving free training to women
Let us tell you that thanks to the free training and kits of the Adani Foundation, these women are becoming financially self-reliant. Also, they are giving training to others. The price of this mushroom is only 20 to 25 rupees per kilogram, but in the market it is sold for 200 to 400 rupees per kilogram. That is, ten times the profit from the cost.
The demand for this mushroom is increasing continuously due to its nutritious and medicinal properties. Apart from this, till now only oyster and button mushrooms were cultivated in this area. However, Godda is the first place where cultivation of milky mushrooms has started on a large scale.
