Bihar Government Pest Management Scheme: The Bihar government had launched the “Pest Management Scheme in Orchards and Crops” in an effort to boost horticultural crop production and farmers’ income. The scheme has been authorized for 2025-2026. This will enable farmers to use subsidized pesticides to manage crops, including papaya, banana, guava, mango and litchi. Farmers will be given a 50% to 75% subsidy per tree and acre.

New scheme to protect horticultural crops
According to Deputy Chief Minister/Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, the Bihar government has authorized the “Pest Management Scheme in Orchards and Crops” for the financial year 2025-2026 with the intention of increasing farmers’ income and production of horticultural crops. He said that the farmers of the state will get subsidized spraying facilities to deal with pests and diseases in horticultural crops and fruits under this strategy. Through government-approved service providers, prescribed pesticides will be used for spraying work.
Benefits of the program will be available after spraying 112 trees
According to the Deputy Chief Minister, mango, litchi, guava, banana and papaya are among the fruit crops that are part of this program. To overcome the problem of pests and fruit fall in mango trees, farmers will get a 75% subsidy at a cost of Rs 57 per tree for the first spraying and Rs 72 per tree for the second spraying. A farmer can spray a maximum of 112 trees. (Per spraying) are eligible to get benefits from this program.
Talking about litchi, a farmer can avail benefits up to 84 trees, as he is given a subsidy at the rate of Rs 162 per tree for the first spraying and Rs 114 per tree for the second spraying. For the guava crop, the farmer will get a 75% subsidy at the rate of Rs 33 per tree on the first spray and Rs 45 per tree on the second spray. A maximum of 56 plants per spray will be eligible for this benefit.
According to Sinha, a 50% subsidy or Rs 2150 per acre for the first spray (including pesticides) and a 50% subsidy or Rs 2000 per acre for the second spray have been fixed under the program for papaya and banana plants. This will help in the efficient management of diseases besides improving the quality and quantity of fruits.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, for farmers to benefit from this program, they have to apply online through the DBT portal.
