Farmer Farm Pond Scheme: Even now, the largest issue facing farmers in certain parts of Rajasthan is the annual shortage of rain. In this regard, the state government has launched a new program each year to enable farmers to continue cultivating even during droughts, therefore increasing their revenue. Indeed, the ‘Farmer Farm Pond Scheme’ was initiated by the Rajasthani government to assist farmers. Farmers would get a subsidy of thousands of rupees under this initiative to build ponds in their fields to collect rainwater.

There would be subsidies up to Rs 1.35 lakh available

This program was launched by the state government to address the farmers’ water issue. Eligible farmers would get up to Rs 1.35 lakh in subsidies under this initiative to build ponds on their fields. This plan will remain in effect till 2025–2026.

Qualifications and terms of the subsidy

  • The minimum amount of land that the farmer should possess is 0.3 hectares.
  • 0.3 hectares of land are needed, even in cases where there is a co-shareholder.
  • If there are two ponds in the same Khasra, they should be at least fifty feet apart.
  • Only until the pond has a fountain or drip system installed will the subsidy be granted.

What is the available subsidy amount?

SC/ST, marginal, and small farmers

  • Kacha Pond: 73,500 rupees
  • Pond coated with plastic: Rs 1.35 lakh

Other farmers

  • Kacha Pond: 63,000 rupees
  • Pond coated with plastic: Rs 1.20 lakh
  • A pond must be at least 400 cubic meters in size.
  • 30% farmer, 70% government cost sharing
