Khet Talab Yojana: What is it?

This program gives the state’s farmers financial support to build ponds in their fields so that water may be saved for irrigation. In addition to resolving the irrigation issue, water storage enables cropping during dry spells. This explains why farmers are increasingly choosing the Khet Talab Yojana as a water management solution.

How much of a subsidy will be offered?

According to the plan, a tiny pond measuring 22 by 20 by 3 meters would cost around Rs 105,000. Half of this, or Rs 52,500, will be provided by the government as a grant; the farmer would be responsible for the remaining sum. First come, first served is how this program works. The chosen farmers will receive the award money in two installments via Direct Bank Transfer (DBT).

Conditions and paperwork required for the application

  • Token money: The farmer must deposit Rs 1,000 in token money online at the time of application.
  • papers: The declaration form, Khasra-Khatauni of the field, and other required papers must be submitted to the site.
  • A farmer’s reservation will be revoked and another farmer will be offered a chance from the next waiting list if the farmer fails to submit the necessary paperwork.

A microirrigation system is required

Farmers must have a microirrigation system in place in order to benefit from this program. Only farmers who have had a microirrigation system installed on their property by the agriculture or horticulture departments within the last seven years of the application date and it is still operational are eligible. A copy of the tripartite contract that was obtained from the Horticulture Department must also be submitted by the farmer at the time of registration.

Additionally, there will be a subsidy on the pump set

The recipients of the Khet Talab Yojana have been granted access to yet another large facility. Farmers will get 50% off the cost of a pump set if they have finished building the pond as part of the program and have a microirrigation system in place. There would be a maximum subsidy of Rs 15,000 per unit. The farmer will need to apply via a different portal that will be created for this purpose.

How do I apply?

  • Farmers may apply for the program by going to the Agriculture Department’s website (http://agridarshan.up.gov.in).
  • Farmers will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis and the booking procedure will be conducted online.
  • The farmer’s registered cellphone number will get an SMS with information about token confirmation.
  • Additionally, the portal’s deadline for document uploads will be shown, allowing farmers to take the appropriate action.
  • Remember that only the latest date shown on the site will be deemed genuine if SMS does not arrive on a mobile device for whatever reason.

Why is a farm pond required?

  • Water scarcity is turning into the largest agricultural concern as a result of climate change and unpredictable monsoons.
  • By creating ponds in the land, farmers may create long-term water supply arrangements for themselves.
  • In addition to increasing agricultural yield, this will lower irrigation costs and boost farmer revenue.
