The state government has approved Rs 14066.66 lakh under this initiative for the fiscal year 2025–2026 in an effort to help as many farmers as possible. This program’s primary goals are to boost production, lower irrigation costs, and stop water waste in agriculture. Additionally, this plan is a tangible step toward increasing the profitability, sustainability, and environmental friendliness of agriculture.

There will be significant subsidies for small and marginal farmers

According to Agriculture Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana would provide small and marginal farmers with up to 80% of the entire cost of drip irrigation systems, while other farmers will get up to 70%. Similarly, a 55 percent subsidy for small and marginal farms and a 45 percent subsidy for other farmers for portable sprinkler systems have been made available. The primary goal of this financial aid is to provide small farmers with access to contemporary irrigation equipment so that their output may rise and agricultural expenses can fall.

funding for the construction of water sources and the installation of tube wells

Farmers would get up to ₹40,000 in subsidies under the PMKSY plan to build a submersible pump or individual tube well. In addition, farmers who install drip irrigation systems would get a 50% subsidy on the whole cost of building a well or pond, up to a maximum of ₹75,000. Farmers close to their fields will have access to stable water sources thanks to this, which is essential for irrigation continuity and agricultural sustainability.

Farmers’ gains from awareness and training initiatives

The state government will carry out specialized training and awareness initiatives to ensure the plan is implemented effectively. Through these initiatives, farmers will learn about microirrigation methods and get training on how to use current techniques to conserve up to 60% of water while simultaneously increasing crop yield by 25 to 35 percent. The capacity development of farmers in rural regions would benefit from this training.

Government initiatives that effectively manage water resources and increase revenue

According to Deputy Chief Minister Sinha, this plan is a strong and successful attempt by the Bihar government to improve water management efficiency, lower agricultural costs, and raise farmer incomes. It goes beyond just expanding irrigation infrastructure. The government wants as many farmers as possible in the state to take advantage of this program and embrace cutting-edge, eco-friendly, and lucrative farming methods.
