Incentive to farmers for the use of organic fertilizers

The main objective of this program run by the Horticulture Department is to encourage farmers to produce organic manure so that agricultural costs are reduced and the quality of the product increases. The department has started the application process for the development of vermicompost plants.

It has been reported in the news that the entire cost of construction of the vermicompost facility has been fixed at Rs 1 lakh. With this, farmers will get a 50% subsidy or an amount of up to Rs 50,000 immediately.

Benefits will be given on priority basis

Farmers will get the benefit of this system on the basis of “first come, first served.” Selected farmers will get assistance for the construction of units. Interested farmers can apply for this online on the website of the Horticulture Department.

Organic fertilizer improves soil health

Let us tell you that due to the continuous use of chemical fertilizers, the soil of the fields is getting depleted. There are many instances when production increases but the quality declines. In such circumstances, organic fertilizer not only increases the health of the soil but also helps in crop quality and production cost.

Description of Vermicompost

Organic fertilizer called vermicompost is made with the help of earthworms. In this, fertilizer is made naturally by mixing plant waste, cow dung, leaves, and other materials. This fertilizer improves the quality of the crop and makes the field soil more fertile.

A great opportunity for farmers

By reducing the cost of chemical fertilizers, this District Horticulture Department program gives a great opportunity to farmers who want to do organic farming. Farmers can improve the soil of their fields and earn extra cash by selling excess manure by creating vermicompost units.

How to apply

  • Farmers can apply online by visiting the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Horticulture Department.
  • Aadhar card, bank account details, land documents, and other required documents have to be submitted to apply.
  • The ‘first come, first served’ method will be used for the selection process.
  • After the completion of the unit, the selected farmers will get the grant amount in their accounts.

Primary goal of the scheme

Apart from encouraging organic farming, the state government program aims to maintain soil fertility and increase the income of farmers. The market for organic commodities is expected to grow rapidly in the near future, giving farmers a chance to earn good profits. The Vermi Compost Unit Scheme is a great opportunity for farmers who want to turn farming into a lucrative business at minimal cost. Farmers willing to avail themselves of the subsidy should apply as soon as possible.
