Cultivation of Lac: In the current period, unemployment is a major issue. The area lacks large enterprises, railroad factories, etc., so when individuals here are unable to find work, they go to neighboring states. Many individuals suffer injuries or sometimes lose their lives in accidents at the same time. Bhushan Kido, who lives in the isolated hamlet of Bamalkera in the Kondra Panchayat in the Raidih block of the district, is making history in this regard by growing lac.
Starting Lac Farming
Following his studies, Bhushan made many attempts to get a government position. Despite his failure, he remained brave and decided to cultivate lac. He received instruction for this and began growing lac in semialta plants by joining the semialta nursery. He now makes thousands of rupees a year from this. The lives of him and his family have also changed significantly as a result of this.
A Business Arrived to Provide Instruction
“I was educated and tried a lot for a job,” said farmer Bhushan Kido. I also applied for a lot of jobs for this, but I never got hired. I had no employment and was unemployed when I had an idea on how to manage the family. I was unemployed at the time, and a manufacturing firm that provided lac cultivation instruction arrived in the Raidih block of the Gumla area.
After completing training, I thus considered growing lac. During the training, those individuals had said that lac cultivation is beneficial for the Semialata plant. I decided that I would now grow lac once that firm supplied the plant. Following this, I first planted the Semialata plant throughout around fifty decimals of my property.
The Plant is Sown in this Manner
“There is also a way to plant Semialata,” he adds. It is planted in a line and at a certain distance. The plant is roughly seven feet tall and is planted one meter apart in a ratio of two. My plant flourished, so I began adding lac after a year. I then sprayed medication on it, which led to excellent lac cultivation and more revenue.
Lac farming may provide 1.5 to 2 lakh rupees in six months. I thus reasoned that I should continue cultivating and growing this plant. I sell the plant and get fifty thousand rupees. Semiya creeper is in high demand since it is simple to cultivate and requires little maintenance.
Avoid Moving in Pursuit of Work
People from the hamlet go to other states in pursuit of work, and Bhushan has become a source of inspiration for them. He advised folks to remain at home and develop lac so they may get big money rather than traveling about. Bhushan also constructed a Semialata nursery, where thousands of plants are available for lacquer farmers to easily get the plant. These plants are available for twenty rupees each.
In addition to the Gumla area, the plant is purchased by residents of Simdega and other Chhattisgarh villages. In this sense, Bhushan’s family is also prospering, and his kids are attending a private school in Gumla.
