Gain from the irrigation plan

Karuna Devi said that in the past, her farms’ insufficient water supply caused the crops to dry out and produce less. When she brought up her issue at the women’s self-help group meeting, JSLPS authorities took it seriously and granted her access to the drip irrigation program.

Increased agricultural yield

In her one-bigha field, Karuna Devi is now growing vegetables, including ladyfinger, brinjal, sim, and potatoes, and she is seeing excellent results. According to her, the machine’s greatest advantage is that it only gives a certain quantity of water to the plant roots, ensuring that every drop is utilized effectively and that no water is wasted. In the past, using a motor pump to irrigate the fields resulted in water waste as well as increased labor and power costs.

Encouraging female farmers

Chandan Kumar, the Mahagama block’s JSLPS Block Project Manager (BPM), said that the state government’s program aims to empower women farmers in rural regions. This program is open to all women as long as they are members of the JSLPS women’s organization and notify the department of any issues pertaining to farming or livelihood. The department provides the drip irrigation unit at no cost after an examination of the issue and documentation.
