Success Story: This young farmer changed his fortune by cultivating lac, you will be shocked to know his earnings
Success Story: By growing lac, Bhushan Kido, a native of the isolated hamlet of Bamalkera in the Raidih district of Gumla, has set an example. He worked hard for a government position, but when he didn’t succeed, he didn’t give up. Rather, he made lac cultivation his job out of perseverance, and today he earns lakhs of rupees a year. His achievement has not only raised his family’s level of life but also served as an example for young people who move in quest of work.

Change was brought about by lac cultivation
Bhushan said that he tried for many government jobs after completing his studies up till matriculation but was unsuccessful. He began to worry about providing for the family during this time of unemployment. In the meanwhile, a Gumla-based manufacturing firm began offering lac cultivation instruction. Bhushan used this chance to his advantage and was trained. He discovered that Semialata plants are ideal for lac production. He planted semialata plants on his 50 decimal acres of property after the corporation gave him plants as well.
Using cutting-edge technologies to farm and make money
Bhushan tended to the semialata plants, planting them one meter apart at a two-meter ratio. After a year, he began spraying the appropriate medication and applying lacquer on these plants. He made between Rs 1.5 and 2 lakh in only 6 months, which was a pretty fantastic outcome. Inspired by this achievement, Bhushan began farming and a semialata plant nursery. He sells these plants and makes an extra Rs 50,000 a year. Due to its ease of lacquer cultivation and low maintenance requirements, semialata plants are in high demand in the market. According to him, this generates between 5 and 6 lakh rupees in revenue every year.
Motivation for others
In an era when many young people are leaving their home states in pursuit of work, Bhushan’s accomplishments have become an inspiration. Instead of going out and making a decent living, he suggests that people develop lac at home. Bhushan has prepared hundreds of plants at his nursery so that lac farmers may easily get semialata plants. People from Gumla, Simdega, and the villages that border Chhattisgarh also come to purchase these plants, which are sold for Rs 20 each. In addition to raising his family’s level of life, Bhushan’s effort has allowed his kids to attend reputable private schools in Gumla.
