Reporting to the Director of RELM, Professional Practices, the Analyst role is a member of the Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) Regulatory Exam Lifecycle Management (RELM) Team.
In order to ensure American Express’s safety and soundness, RELM enables the continuous monitoring, repair of regulatory findings, and end-to-end lifecycle management of regulatory examinations.
Throughout the test and remediation lifecycle, the Professional Practices team at RELM supports the development of technological solutions and processes, including related procedure uplifts and training. Before submitting to the regulators and Internal Audit, the team does a quality control assessment of the deliverables produced throughout the exam and remediation processes, such as management replies, remediation milestones and action plans, and exam closure packages.
Through strict review, validation, and documentation requirements, this position will be essential to maintaining American Express’ regulatory status and promoting sustainable risk management procedures.
How are you going to contribute in this position
Perform thorough quality control evaluations of MRA/MRIA Corrective Actions, Project Guardian Gap closures, and Project Guardian and Regulatory Issue Findings (MRA/MRIAs) milestones, checking all contributions for alignment, completeness, accuracy, transparency, and evidence.
Keep an accurate record of all evaluations, conclusions, and approvals by identifying and recording any flaws, inconsistencies, or missing information. If necessary, return things to the owners for more work.
Make sure that every submission of the aforementioned documents satisfies the template’s minimal criteria, which include correct field completion, recorded approvals, closing child action items, and uploading the appropriate proof.
Verify that the paperwork complies with internal risk management frameworks, regulatory requirements, and remedial efforts.
Collaborate with compliance leaders, gap/milestone owners, and business units to assist with cleanup and closure initiatives.
Share review results and, if necessary, elevate concerns to leadership and stakeholders. To improve overall risk management procedures, suggest improvements to QC/QA procedures.
Participate in lessons-learned exercises and process enhancements for audit responses and regulatory filings.
Minimum Requirements for American Express job role
- One or more years of expertise in regulatory affairs, internal audit, risk management, or compliance, ideally in the financial services industry
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, risk management, compliance, or a similar discipline (advanced degree desirable)
- strong knowledge of risk frameworks, internal audit procedures, and regulatory requirements (such as MRAs and MRIAs)
- Proven expertise with BI technologies (such as Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft Suite, and others), evidence validation, and QC/QA testing
- Outstanding communication, organizing, and analytical abilities with a strong focus on details
- Capacity to operate alone and provide top stakeholders with autonomous solutions
- The capacity to work well with others while retaining one’s own opinion
- strong understanding of risk management frameworks and compliance norms

Pay range: $65,500.00 to $102,500.00 per year plus perks and bonuses
