Mental Health Advisor: We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Advisor to support student wellbeing and help individuals navigate complex personal and academic challenges. In this important student-facing role, you will provide tailored, professional support while contributing to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

As a key member of our Student Support and Success team, you will also advise staff across the institution on best practices for responding to mental health and wellbeing concerns.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support

Collaboration & Guidance

  • Develop strong working relationships with academic departments and professional services.

  • Offer expert advice, guidance, and training to staff to enhance their confidence in supporting students.

  • Work closely with services such as Counselling, Disability Support, and Student Success to ensure consistent and joined-up support.

Wellbeing Initiatives

  • Contribute to wellbeing campaigns, workshops, and community-building initiatives.

  • Support the development of an inclusive environment that nurtures student resilience, confidence, and success.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a candidate who brings:

  • Experience supporting student mental health in a higher education or similar environment.

  • Strong crisis-management skills and the ability to assess and mitigate risk.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and diplomatically.

  • The resilience to work calmly under pressure while managing multiple priorities.

  • An understanding of the wellbeing challenges faced by diverse student groups (including international students and those from creative or high-pressure academic fields).

Desirable (not essential):

  • Qualifications in mental health, such as nursing, social work, counselling, or occupational therapy.

  • Skills in CBT, coaching, group facilitation, or wellbeing practices like mindfulness.
