Melbourne Girls Grammar School is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Head of Athletics to lead a comprehensive and inclusive athletics program throughout the year. Core Responsibilities of the Role
The Head of Athletics will provide strategic leadership across Track and Field, Cross Country, and Summer Athletics programs. The role also involves mentoring and managing specialist coaches, embedding best practice coaching principles, and driving initiatives that promote broad participation, long-term engagement, and clear pathways into community sport and high-performance environments.
Desired Skills and Professional Background
Applicants should be accredited athletics coaches at Level 3 or 4, with a minimum of five years’ experience leading structured programs. A strong track record of coaching athletes at state, national, or international levels is essential. The role requires excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills, as well as the ability to manage budgets, collaborate with stakeholders, and resolve challenges constructively. Candidates must also hold current Senior First Aid and CPR certification, an active Victorian Working with Children Check, and valid Athletics Australia membership.
