Position Focuses on Hospital Cleanliness and Safety

According to the job posting, the selected candidate will perform a range of housekeeping and environmental service duties across hospital facilities. Responsibilities include wet and dry mopping, washroom cleaning, vacuuming, laundry handling, waste collection, recycling removal, equipment sanitation, and restocking essential supplies. The role also involves cleaning patient rooms, common areas, and other hospital spaces to help maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

Additional Training Provided for Specialized Cleaning Tasks

WRHN stated that successful applicants will receive training for discharge cleaning and isolation-room cleaning procedures. The position may also require floor maintenance activities such as buffing, burnishing, refinishing, as well as scheduled cleaning of walls, ceilings, vents, and lighting fixtures.

Experience and Physical Requirements

Previous experience in janitorial or housekeeping work is considered an asset, particularly within institutional or healthcare settings. Candidates should be comfortable working independently with limited supervision and be capable of operating equipment such as floor scrubbers and buffers.

The hospital is also seeking applicants who possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, can follow instructions effectively, and are physically able to push, pull, and lift heavy equipment. The role requires frequent standing and walking throughout shifts, along with the ability to climb ladders when necessary.

Health Documentation Required Before Joining

WRHN noted that newly hired employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination status, complete a two-step TB test, and submit evidence of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella before their start date. Final clearance from Employee Health, Safety and Wellness is required prior to beginning employment.
