GOVERNMENT SCHEMES

One Rank One Pension Scheme: PM Modi said this big thing on completion of 10 years of this scheme

One Rank One Pension Scheme: The One Rank One Pension scheme was introduced nationwide by PM Modi’s administration ten years ago. Prime Minister Modi posted anything on Twitter (now X) on this day. He claimed that millions of pensioners had benefitted from this scheme, which has been in place for 10 years. This is significant because the ‘One Rank One Pension’ was created 10 years ago on this day, giving military personnel who serve the same amount of time and retire at the same rank—regardless of when they resigned—equal pensions.

PM Modi claims that the day was historic

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on social media on the program’s tenth anniversary, “This is a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our former military personnel who dedicated their lives to protecting our country.” One significant step in honoring our nation’s soldiers is the adoption of OROP.

Development of the Military

“You will all be happy to know that over the last decade, millions of pensioners and their families have benefited from this historic initiative,” the prime minister said in his tweet. In addition to the numbers, OROP demonstrates the government’s commitment to the well-being of our military. Prime Minister Modi said that the government will always do its hardest to strengthen our military and enhance the lives of those who serve us.

Over 25 lakh pensioners received benefits

The Modi government’s initiative has already helped over 25 lakh former military members and their families. The government changes the pension under this system every five years. In July 2024, the last modification was done. One Rank One Pension has cost the government Rs 1,24,974.34 crore over the last 10 years, according to spending statistics.

One Rank One Pension is very exceptional

The Modi government’s reform has drastically altered the scenario. Prior to the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ program, the pension for ex-servicemen was decided by the Pay Commission’s recommendations. This contains military personnel who retired before to June 30, 2014. Punjab and Uttar Pradesh are at the top of the list in terms of the number of individuals who are benefiting from this government initiative.
