Part-Time Tax Accountant (Flexible Role) – Join Our Accounting Team
We are looking for an experienced Tax Accountant with at least 2 years of Australian taxation experience to join our friendly and supportive accounting team. This is a part-time position (3–4 days per week) based at our Penshurst office, conveniently located near the local railway station.
About the Role
In this role, you will work closely with our Principal—an experienced Chartered Accountant and Financial Planner—to prepare financial statements and deliver taxation advice for a diverse portfolio of business and professional clients.
This position is ideal for a motivated professional who is currently undertaking or planning to commence CA/CPA studies and is committed to continuous learning. You will have the opportunity to grow into managing your own client portfolio and developing expertise in taxation planning and wealth-building strategies. Ongoing internal and external training is provided to support your development.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and assist in overseeing a portfolio of business and professional clients
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Prepare financial statements for a variety of entities
• Prepare and lodge activity statements
• Attend client meetings and communicate with key stakeholders
• Collaborate with other accountants and support the team where needed
• Contribute to a culture of accountability, growth, and shared success
What We’re Looking For
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in public practice, working with small business accounting and taxation
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline
• Actively pursuing or intending to commence CA/CPA qualifications
• Strong attention to detail and self-driven work ethic
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A client-focused mindset and commitment to delivering quality service
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team
• Demonstrated experience with taxation clients
• Ability to support and collaborate with other accountants and administrative staff
• Long-term career goals with interest in leadership and team contribution
• Experience with MYOB, Xero, Class, BGL, or similar software is desirable
• Full Australian working rights required
