To join the Data Privacy and Protection team and provide guidance on data protection, data privacy, and legal obligations across digital products at the Guardian, we are now seeking a Senior Data Privacy Counsel.
You will collaborate closely with the DPO, the manager of data privacy compliance, the data privacy analyst, the data privacy lawyer, and other important business stakeholders.
Concerning the Role
Using data privacy laws for online goods and services
Provide guidance on the risks to data privacy and how to complete Data Privacy Impact Assessments for planned processing activities.
Give the DPO and other pertinent stakeholders fast, clear data and reports on your operations, privacy risks, and concerns.
Assist the company, commercial legal team, and privacy team with contract management and discussions pertaining to data privacy about you.
Experience providing advice in a position in the media, publishing, or digital industries
Strong understanding of UK and European data protection laws, regulations, and policies, including: Experience leading on data privacy across digital products and adtech; UK-certified lawyer with at least three years of PQE from a data privacy/technology team
Data Use and Access Act 2025, Data Protection Act, UK General Data Protection Regulation

We work in a hybrid setting, working remotely two days a week and from our Kings Cross headquarters three days a week.
