Success Story: Flower farming is giving wings to the dreams of women farmer
success story: Women farmers are earning lakhs of rupees by cultivating flowers. Mrs. Laxmibai Kushwaha, a resident of Barkheda Bondar, has set a strong example of hard work and self-reliance. When Laxmibai came to know about the “Protected Farming Scheme” of the Horticulture Department, her interest in flower cultivation increased further. She told me that her family had been cultivating paddy, wheat and soybean in the old way for years, but it cost them more and gave them less profit.

Ways to get closer to independence
Using this program under the National Development Project in 2021-2022, Laxmibai built the first polyhouse in an area of 3000 square feet. The entire cost of the project was ₹ 25.32 lakh, out of which ₹ 12.66 lakh was a government grant. And many thanks to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Their schemes have made us women self-reliant as well as given us a new identity in the society. Today I feel proud to be a farmer, an entrepreneur and an empowered woman.
The term “Protected Farming Scheme”
refers to a contemporary agricultural practice, sometimes referred to as “greenhouse farming.” Plants are cultivated in a greenhouse or polyhouse, which is a special structure that helps produce more high-quality goods for crops under the harsh natural conditions of a controlled environment.
